The EU-Project ALMA Is Having Its 10th Anniversary

We have reason to celebrate. The ALMA project – cradle for emmtrix Technologies – is having its 10th anniversary.

In September 2011, 10 years ago, the European ALMA project (Algorithm parallelization for Multicore Architectures) started, in which researchers and industry partners jointly developed an innovative, architecture-oriented parallelization toolchain for high-performance embedded multicore systems.

Part of the research group and the project coordinator team of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) were the computer scientists and electrical engineers Dr.-Ing. Timo Stripf, Michael Rückauer and Oliver Oey, who at the end of the project (2015) decided to build on the findings from the ALMA project and founded the company emmtrix Technologies GmbH.

The core technology of the ALMA project was taken as the basis for the tools emmtrix Code Generator and emmtrix Parallel Studio, which have been further developed and refined for industry requirements to this day. We would like to thank all our ALMA project partners and wish them plenty of success in their ongoing concerns: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Intracom Telecom, Université de Rennes, University of Peloponnese, Technological Educational Institute of Mesolonghi and the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation.
